The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) certifications were established to assist the industry in distinguishing the top echelon of internetworking experts worldwide and to assess Expert-level infrastructure network design skills worldwide. These certifications are accepted worldwide as the most prestigious networking certifications in the industry. The CCIE and CCDE community has established a reputation of leading the networking industry in deep technical networking knowledge and are deployed into the most technically challenging network assignments. The Expert-level certification program continually updates and revises its testing tools and methodologies to ensure unparalleled program quality, relevance and value. Through a rigorous written exam and a performance based lab, these Expert-level certification programs set the standard for internetworking expertise.
Active CCIE or CCDE status shows your commitment to maintaining Expert-level knowledge in an industry critical to the success of virtually every organization. To maintain an active status, CCIEs are encouraged to continually expand their technical knowledge and are required to recertify every two years before the certification expiration date. CCIEs and CCDEs may recertify by passing the designated recertification exam or by earning the required credits through the Cisco Continuing Education Program.
If you do not complete your recertification before the deadlines, your CCIE or CCDE certification will be suspended and you and your employer will lose the benefits associated with your expert status. You have one year to reinstate your CCIE status before you become inactive and must begin the certification process all over again by passing the written and practical or lab exams.
